Yancheng posts 66% rise in throughput

Yancheng, a small Yangtze river port in Jiangsu province, recorded a year-on-year growth of 66 per cent in throughput to 13.59m tonnes from January to June 2012. It also lifted 13,000 TEU in this period, reported Xinhua.

In the first half year, the port invested of Rmb947m in infrastructure. New projects include
a 50,000-tonne multi-use terminal in Dafeng port area and a 100,000-tonne navigational channel in Binhai port area.

Yancheng now has 66 operational berths with a quay length of 4.2km and a capacity of 26.1m tonnes.

Situated on the north bank of the Yangtze, the city is known for its long history in sea salt production.
