China considers criminalising speeding and overloading

1 August 2012
China’s State Council has revealed that serious cases of speeding and driving of overloaded vehicles could be made criminal offences.

The announcement came after a spate of fatal road accidents that involved speeding or overloading.

Traffic accidents on China’s roads result in about 70,000 fatalities and 300,000 injuries every year, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
