A global shipping conference in Singapore attended by CEOs of shipping giants such as Maersk and APL will include a focus on Yangtze container shipping. The conference, organised by Informa, will take place on 11-12 September. It will look at the latest development in infrastructure and container shipping trends along the Yangtze and discuss what role global liners can play in helping shippers invest in China’s interior.

Latest figures from the Yangtze River Administration showed that container throughput via the major Yangtze ports rose by 7.8 per cent to 5.6m TEU over the first six months of the year.
SIPG Jiujiang port, more than 90 per cent owned by Shanghai International Port Group, saw one of the strongest growth rates among the major Yangtze ports with a half year throughput of 80,100 TEU, up 13 per cent year-on-year.
According to an official forecast, total Yangtze container throughput is expected to reach 11.84m TEU in 2012, up 6.3 per cent.
