Jaguar JV wins NDRC approval

17 October 2012
The Rmb12bn joint venture between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover has gained approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, according to various Chinese media, though there was no official confirmation on the NDRC website.

The plant will be built in the Yangtze port city of Changshu, 100km from Shanghai. When completed by July 2014, it will produce 130,000 vehicles a year, about 60 per cent of which will be Land Rover SUVs. Between January and August, JLR sold 47,000 SUVs in China, almost doubling the total compared with the same period last year.
