Sixth oil & liquid chemical storage terminal approved in Changshu

31 October 2012
Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission has recently approved a Rmb149m project to build the sixth oil and liquid chemical storage terminal in Changshu. The Guobang terminal, 3.2km downstream of Sutong Bridge, will have a 20,000 dwt berth capable of accommodating two 2,000 dwt vessels at the same time with an annual handling capacity of 1.2m tons. Essentially privately-owned, the terminal will also allow businesses within Changshu Economic Zone to use their facilities.

Once the terminal is completed within the next 24 months, Changshu will have six storage terminals with a total handling capacity of 10.5m tons.

Changshu, together with Taicang and Zhangjiagang, falls under an administrative umbrella of Suzhou Port. Last year, Changshu’s throughput of general cargo exceeded 57m tons, while its container throughput reached 320,000 TEU.
