Lanzhou to build railway logistics centre

21 November 2012
Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province in northwest China, plans to build the largest railway logistics centre in the region, Xinhua reported. The Rmb2.11bn centre will have an annual throughput capacity of 17m tonnes by 2015, rising to 25m tonnes by 2020.

The facility involves the relocation and expansion of the old Lanzhou West Station freight yard for container, bulk and outsized cargo, and will cover an area of 167 hectares. It is due to open in 18 months.

Lanzhou Mayor Yuan Zhanting said the railway logistics centre will be important to the overall economic development of western China.
