Nantong builds China’s largest container vessel

12 December 2012
Nantong Maritime Safety Authorities despatched three patrol vessels and seven tugs on 10 December to help transport China’s largest container vessel to its berth from Nantong Cosco KHI Shipyard. Cosco Chuanqi 111, capable of carrying 13,600 TEU, is 366 metres long, 51.2 metres wide and 29.85 metres deep. It is the first of eight vessels that the shipyard is building for China’s largest shipping line.

The shipyard is a 50-50 joint venture between Cosco and Kawasaki of Japan, set up in 1999 with a registered capital of nearly Rmb1.5bn.
