7 missing after Yangtze ship collision

Seven people were reported missing after a collision involving three vessels in a section of the Yangtze River in Wuhu, Anhui province. The incident happened in the early morning of 17 May.

Thirteen out of 20 crew members on board the vessels who fell into the water were rescued, according to the Yangtze River Maritime Department. Rescuers and salvage experts were sent to the scene by the Ministry of Transport, but no further details have since been published.

The vessels included a tug boat carrying iron ore from Henan province, and cargo ships carrying steel products and limestone, respectively, from Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.
