Power blackout halts high-speed trains

29 May 2013
At least 40 high-speed trains were delayed by a four-hour power blackout that hit central and southern China on 26 May.

The 1,068-km Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway came to a halt between 3:46pm and 7.20pm.

Services were disrupted after a blackout occurred between Chenzhou West railway station in Hunan province and Lechang East railway station in Guangdong province, Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported.

The blackout was said to have been caused by heavy rain. At least 40 high-speed trains were delayed, according to the report.
