Promising start for China-Poland rail freight service

5 June 2013
The frequency of a rail freight service launched in April between China and Poland could be increased to daily by the end of this year, the joint-venture company behind the project, YHF Logistics, told Lloyd’s Loading List.com.

The weekly service, made up of between 41 and 52 wagons and carrying multi-sized containers, operates from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, to the city of Lodz, in central Poland.

Trains pass through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus during their 10,000km journey, which takes 14-15 days.

“The service has already attracted some of the biggest names in freight forwarding, such as DHL, DB Schenker, UPS, TNT, Geodis and Hellmann, who view it as a solution for shipping goods in high-value-added sectors,” said YHF Logistics’ CEO, Sofiane Rachedi.
