The city aims to attract manufacturers of bulldozers, loaders and other engineering machinery to accelerate the development of products ranging from tower cranes to concrete mixers.

In the meantime, the city will support major players such as Yichang Shipyard, Damen Shipbuilding Corp, and Gezhouba Dam Ship Machinery to develop 3D hull computer design technology and database, modular construction, high performance special vessel design and manufacturing technology so as to build on a large scale liquid cargo ships, semi submersible barges, offshore oil drilling ships, dredgers, ocean tugboats, asphalt ships, liquefied gas carriers, engineering ships and other special vessels.

By 2016, the city will have a shipbuilding capacity of 1m tons and a marine diesel engine production capacity of more than 2m horsepower. The park is expected to generate an industrial output exceeding Rmb20bn.
