Gezhouba Dam shiplock to be suspended in February

27 November 2013
The Yangtze River Administration hosted a workshop on 21 November with some of the major shipping lines and transport authorities in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to brief them on the pending repair project on the No.2 shiplock at Gezhouba Dam. This is a welcome attempt to give advance warning for routine maintenance projects.

The scheduled repair will start on 5 February and carry on throughout the Chinese spring festival, typically a low season for cargo transport.

Only 38km from the Three Gorges Dam, Gezhouba, with three shiplocks, was the first hydropower project on the Yangtze, boasting 21 generators with a total capacity of 2,715MW.
