Chongqing-Helsinki service to become daily

14 May 2014
The frequency of flights between Helsinki and Chongqing is to be increased to six a week by next year and daily by 2016, according to Finnair. Currently, the carrier operates four flights a week.

Taking about nine hours, the journey between the two cities is one of the shortest between China and Europe.

Lars Olofsson, Greater China sales director for Finnair, said the route had achieved “unexpected success” in terms of both passenger and cargo throughput. The service is being used by Chongqing-based exporters of laptops and car and motorcycle parts, while European-made car parts are transported on the return flights.
