Suzhou-Warsaw container railway increases frequency

25 June 2014
China Railway will upgrade its Suzhou-Warsaw container route to a weekly service from 1 July. Currently operating three times a month, the express service is expected to be further upgraded to twice weekly by 2015, according to China News.

The service starts from Suzhou west station and winds its way northward to Russia and Poland via Manchuria, stretching some 11,200km. From 1 July, the average speed will pick up as well, from 80kph to 120kph. Since the end of last September, the journey time has been reduced to 14 days from 26 days. The time reduction this time around has not yet been made clear.

In another development, China-European rail services starting from Zhengzhou and Xian are also expected to increase frequency in an effort to boost foreign trade.
