Chenglingji granted licence to receive imported grain

15 October 2014
Yueyang Chenglingji port in Hunan province has been granted a licence to receive imported grain. It features in a list of 58 licensees approved by the State Quality and Inspection Administration on 9 October, according to China Ports Network.

Chenglingji has invested nearly Rmb400,000 in grain monitoring and inspection facilities, including an expansion project for an on-site laboratory. Since the beginning of this year, the port has handled 62,000 tons of grain and processed grain worth nearly US$30m. Imported rice and corn alone accounted for two-thirds of the total in terms of quantity and value.

The new status is expected to facilitate the local processing industry.
