Yibin’s oversize cargo terminal goes into operation

15 October 2014
On 6 October, the oversize cargo terminal at Yibin, Sichuan province, went into operation. It will provide an important service for heavy industrial manufacturers in the western interior, according to China Water Transport News.

Located at the intersection of the Yangtze, the Jinsha Jiang and Ming Jiang rivers, the terminal is 36 metres in length with a total annual handling capacity of 338,000 tons and a lift capacity of 1,000 tons.

The terminal, which cost Rmb116m to build, has already signed up heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer China Southern Vehicles Group as a long-term user.

Yibin is the most westerly port on the Yangtze. Construction started in 2008 and operations began in 2010.
