Shanghai plans express rail between two airports

12 November 2014
The Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Airport Group Jing Yiming told local media earlier this month that a feasibility study is being conducted to build an express railway between Hongqiao and Pudong airports in Shanghai in an attempt to cut the journey time to 30-40 minutes.

At the moment, Hongqiao is well connected to high-speed rail services and domestic flights. However, when passengers in Hongqiao want to take international flights from Pudong airport, they need to take the No.2 metro line, a journey that takes about two hours.

However, Mr Jing did not disclose the completion date of the feasibility study or a possible completion date for the rail project.
