Nuplex builds third China factory

The New Zealand-headquartered chemicals company Nuplex Industries has begun construction of its third manufacturing facility in China, a US$35m plant in the Yangtze port city of Changshu, Jiangsu province. It will produce solvent-borne and water-borne resins for industrial applications such as car manufacturing.

The Changshu plant, which is expected to be completed in the second half of next year, is designed to complement Nuplex’s existing factory in nearby Suzhou. The company has another Chinese factory in Foshan, Guangdong province.

Another multinational chemicals company, the US-based Chemtura Corporation, has officially opened a new manufacturing facility in the neighbouring Yangtze port city of Nantong. The plant will produce petroleum additive and urethane products, which are used in the manufacture of synthetic finished fluids and calcium sulphonate complex grease.
